The Kollywood superstar will make his Mollywood debut through Thomsun K Thomas' Kammath and Kammath
So the rumours were true! Kollywood superstar Dhanush is making his Mollywood debut with Kammath and Kammath. The actor will have two of Mollywood's leading stars, Mammootty and Dileep, by his side for the majority of scenes that will be shot on his first day.
While the Aadukalam actor is playing a cameo in the flick, the excitement on the film's location in Kochi had reached fever pitch by the time all three superstars had come together.
Dileep, who reached the sets from Guruvayoor in the morning, tells us that it was memorable for everyone involved. The hype and buzz before the shoot hinted that the Kolaveri Di crooner will be playing a superstar who comes to Kerala to inaugurate a hotel owned by the Kammath Brothers, played by Mammootty and Dileep.
Confirming it, Dileep says, "Yes, he would be inaugurating a hotel in the movie. He's allotted close to five days for the film, so it's more than just a cameo role. It's a very important character in the story and that's all I would say."
On how Dhanush landed the role, the Mollywood actor says, "He decided to take it up because he is well acquainted with Mammukka and me. Also, I believe he has plans to go to Sabarimala as well. So, things just fell into place."
Incidentally, the day had also marked the first time that Mammootty and Dileep were shooting together after 11 years since their last outing in Rakshasa Rajavu. "It's special because we are acting together after a really long time. While we were both in Twenty: 20, there weren't any combination scenes," says Dileep, who had earlier starred with the megastar in Megham, Kaliyoonjal, Sagaram Sakshi and Sainyam.
The film, directed by Thomsun K Thomas and penned by scribes Udayakrishna and Sibi K Thomas, also stars Rima Kallingal and Karthika as the female leads. Apart from Dhanush, the team is looking at roping in another actor to play a cameo in the film.
